New $200m outdoor concert venue for the Yarra Valley: Graeme Kemlo
One of the organisations behind the amazing Ed Sheeran concert at the MCG in March was a group called Cedar Mill, who is investing heavily in new technology performance sound shells that enable great sound quality from an outdoor concert amphitheater. The group is constructing a series of venues for up to 30,000 attendees in Lake Macquarie near Newcastle and Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley, NSW. And they have just announced a $200 million development and bought a 100 acre block of land on Maroondah Highway in the Yarra Valley, in Victoria, for a venue to host 15,000 concert goers, with a 300-bed hotel, 20 separate villa suites and a village atmosphere for food and drink. There are more sites planned in Victoria, to feature national and international touring acts.
