Alistair Smith our former newspaperman has another quirky story he uncovered on a visit to Alaska. Since the days of Abraham Lincoln in the 1860s this state has been looking to open up area area beyond the town of f Fairbanks and an entrepreneur came up with the idea of establishing a town called North Pole with its obvious links to Christmas and the rest is history as Alistair Smith explains to Graeme Kemlo
