Spain Correspondent Karin Avila Recently In Morocco’s Atlas Mountain Villages Reports
At Travel Writers Radio we have had three of four reporters cover visits to Morocco over the years. It is a popular and unique destination Australians enjoy. But most recent and most relevant was the visit of Karin Avila who not only visited the country in the north of Africa, but she specifically spent time in a village in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains where she lived with an an Amazigh (Berber) family in their Adobe-style home last |March.
We have received a couple of updates on the terrible earthquake, including Karin’s attempts to get in contact via mobile phone with her friends in Imlil, which is south of Marrakesh and close to the epicentre of the 6.8 quake that so far has claimed almost 3000 lives and impacted 300,000 people living mainly in clusters of villages in and around the Atlas Mountains.
